Waterproofing a residential vault in London, SE
We were asked to carry out the design and installation of a Delta Modular system to an refurbished coal storage unit. The structural slab was lowered and walls underpinned. This was to create a new bedroom and bathroom.
The system used for this project was a combination of the Delta modular system and rebated channel method to allow for ample drainage.
The walls were prepped with Delta’s Polysil TG500 and membrane was installed internally. The sump was located externally in a deep manhole to mechanically lift the water out of the basement.
The project was a peculiar shaped being both vaulted and tapered. There was a restriction on head height, but the old render surface was quite friable which did not lend itself to the ‘curtain hang’ method. Therefore, the walls were prepared with a scratch coat to provide a even surface. This created a strong enough surface which enabled timber battens to be screwed into the head of the plugs.
